:Listening to Songs That Get Me Through Difficult Times
July 30, 2019/
This may sound a tad bit extreme, but music keeps me alive. Whenever I just want to scream, or cry, or party all by myself, music is there. It can either calm me down or push me to let those emotions free…there is no in-between.
So, as a tribute to my unbreakable bond to the melodic tunes of age…here is a glimpse into my heart-wrenching, golden, handpicked, beautifully-crafted, wanting to just not hurt anymore, survival playlist 🙂
WARNING: some songs have been known to draw forward a tear…or two
Heavy by:Kiana Lede ft. Jenifer Lewis This is how I feel on the daily…getting lost in my head can be a blessing and a curse
Pink Matter by:Frank Ocean Chill, laid back, and forces you to consider that there is more to life and consciousness than what is seen.
Instagram by: Dean His voice is so calming, and his message is just as beautiful. Societal standards are a hard burden to carry.
Therapy by: Khalid Who doesn’t appreciate a beautiful, tragic love song from the one and only?
Riot by: Summer Walker Hands down one of my favorite female artists who deserves way more attention. This song definitely has “strong woman not afraid to ask for what she wants” vibes.
For Colored Boys by: Kota the Friend Enough said.
Birdie by: Kota the Friend Can we just appreciate black people loving black people? And the piano track that he raps on takes me to a different world.
Shutter Island by: Jessie Reyez That raspy voice…”I’m tired of begging you to love me.”
Easy by: Wheein Wow…just wow. This playlist is starting to turn into a girl power, independent woman playlist
Sea by:BTS I could put so many BTS songs on this list it doesn’t even make sense, but this song tells me to never stop fighting and to never forget where you came from.
Jasmine by:DPR Live Basically…I can be everything that you need…if you just let me
This is getting pretty long, so I’ll stop here. Give these songs a listen and feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comment section below.
