About Me
“If you are a dreamer, come in”
-Shel Silverstein
Once upon a time, a little girl sat huddled over a new book, flipping through its opening pages. The words sprawled across the cream-colored paper in black ink peered back at her. They greeted her with a warm welcome, inviting her in.
Once, then twice, she read through the lines. And again for good measure. With tireless eyes that scanned over each letter, carefully she committed each line of the poem to memory. It became so ingrained in her mind that afterwards she could recite it glibly to any passerby. Not that anyone would ask. Seldom ever did.
She didn’t—at the time—really know what all the letters jumbled together meant. But she knew how it made her feel.
Free.
As if the wind had caught beneath her wings and carried her far away. As if the stars were reaching their blazing tails down to kiss her cheek. As if the world was right at her fingertips and was beckoning her forward.
It doesn’t matter now what book it was she had had propped upon her lap that day. She had only read the first chapter anyhow.
But those words of that poem stuck with her forever. They painted the walls of her soul. For she felt in her core that she was the dreamer Shel spoke of. And the invitation was signed, sealed, and awaiting her.
The poem was like a call. It awakened her senses. It pried open the door in her heart and shone light on the writer within the girl.
It is what brought her here today. What led her inevitably to you. And if you take a fleeting moment to pause and listen carefully, you might hear a sigh escape her lips. And perhaps you might just feel a gust of wind flutter beneath your own wings.
That’s what this site is. What “adayjust” has become. An invitation to dream, to live, to explore, and most of all to take flight.
